Geostatistics in ILWIS

چکیده

The newest version of the ITC GIS and Remote Sensing software ILWIS offers an integrated set of modules to perform geostatistics. Its functionality for image processing, geographic analysis and digital mapping combined with extensive geostatistical tools make it a modern product for education and research in the field of G.I.S. It incorporates spatial correlation tools like semi-and cross variogram modelling. Anisotropy and spatial trend in the data can be studied. Unlimited numbers and types of attributes can be linked to both vector and raster maps. Many options of statistical interpolation (Kriging) and error estimation are implemented and described in this article. Especially, the flexible integration of different data formats is emphasized.

A Practical Guide to Geostatistical Mapping

Geostatistical mapping can be defined as analytical production of maps by using field observations, auxiliary information and a computer program that calculates values at locations of interest. Today, increasingly the heart of a mapping project is, in fact, the computer program that implements some (geo)statistical algorithm to a given point data set. Purpose of this guide is to assist you in p...

Free Open Source Ilwis 3.4 for Efficient Thematic Studies in Alpine Areas

Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing are tools which integrated can perform different environmental analysis. The Netherlands ITC (Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences) developed in 1984 on Integrated Land and Water Information System (ILWIS), that combines raster (satellite image and aerial photo analysis), vector and thematic data operations in one comprehensive int...

Sediment yield estimation using GIS

A method has been developed in the present study for the determination of the sediment yield from a catchment using a GIS. The method involves spatial disaggregation of the catchment into cells having uniform soil erosion characteristics. The surface erosion from each of the discretized cells is routed to the catchment outlet using the concept of sediment delivery ratio, which is defined as a f...

Multiple-point geostatistics: a quantitative vehicle for integrating geologic analogs into multiple reservoir models

While outcrop models can provide important information on reservoir architecture and heterogeneity, it is not entirely clear how such information can be used exhaustively in geostatistical reservoir modeling. Traditional, variogram-based geostatistics is inadequate in that regard since the variogram is too limiting in capturing geological heterogeneity from outcrops. A new field, termed multipl...

A DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING APPROACH TO CREATING PINs FROM DIGITIZED CONTOURS

DTMs derived from digitized contour lines often suffer from limited quality. The quality can be enhanced by automatically extracting skeleton lines from the contours prior to triangulation and subsequent interpolation. A hybrid set of raster and vector techniques is used for skeleton extraction and TIN generation, including distance transformation, Dirichlet tessellation, thinning, gap filling,...
